Spring in Big Sky | April 2026

Believe it or not, these photos were taken TODAY! While we didn't have the snowy winter we are accustomed to, it's not over yet. Those who were suckered into taking off their snow tires early (it's usually only safe to do so after May 1) had a surprise this morning! Last night, close to a foot of snow fell at Big Sky Resort and about half that in Town Center. And it's been snowing all day. The resort is open Friday-Sunday the next two weekends, so tomorrow morning will be exciting for the powderchasers. It's still snowing lightly and the temps have chilled, so we hope the skiing will be pretty good! The photos above were taken by my husband on his backcountry tour in Beehive today.

Like many resort markets, we are heading into one of our two "shoulder seasons" as the ski season winds down and it will be quiet in Big Sky until people shift gears to other outdoor activities like golf, mountain biking and hiking. As you can see below, the real estate market has continued to show strength when compared to last year, likely, in part, to the higher inventory and available options for Buyers. Despite the recent global unrest, the level of showings in early April has remained strong. Whether those showings translate to closed sales remains to be seen.

If you are on the hunt for a property, you are in a better position than last year at this time. Every month since last August Big Sky has had more new listings than the same time in 2024. In Bozeman it's been a little more up and down month to month, but YTD in 2026 the number of new listings is up 20%.
